About Ashwagandha Tea
Ashwagandha root with herbs from Nepal
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a root that has been dried and brewed in South Asia for centuries. On its own it is earthy and a little bitter, so ours is blended with herbs from Nepal to round it out. The result is a warming, full-flavoured cup with no caffeine.
Use one to two teaspoons per cup of hot water and give it a long steep, six to eight minutes, because roots release their flavour slowly. A spoon of honey or a splash of milk softens the earthiness, and many people find the taste grows on them.
Because it has no caffeine and a grounding, savoury character, it is best in the evening. It is one of the two teas in our Heritage collection.

Does ashwagandha tea have caffeine?
No. It is a root and herb infusion with no tea leaf in it, so it has no caffeine and suits the evening.
What does ashwagandha tea taste like?
Earthy and a little bitter, like a roasted root, with a warming, savoury finish. The herbs in our blend soften it. Honey or a splash of milk go well with it.
How do I brew it?
One to two teaspoons per cup of hot water, steeped for six to eight minutes. Roots need longer than leaves or flowers to give up their flavour.
Is it safe to drink every day?
It is a food, and most people drink it as an ordinary evening cup. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or take regular medication, check with your GP or pharmacist before making any new floral infusion a daily habit. We sell tea, not medicine.
